Ritz Carlton Chicago

Hello Ritz Carlton Chicago, a brand that will forever hold a special place in my heart and I am Incredibly lucky to be able to experience another Ritz Carlton Location. Here’s a little sneak peak if you’re planning a trip to Chicago. We chose this hotel because the service is always great and there is a pool and spa so we could relax as well as explore the City.

Details

Location, Down Town Chicago, next to the John Hancock building. It’s a great location, feels like you’re right in the action but also feels like a salubrious area. Walking distance of Chanel Highly important obviously (inserts laughing face). Easy to get to all the main parts of the city, by easy I mean you can walk. Lots of bars and restaurants on your doorstep

Room

Rooms are spacious, we went for a standard room. Bathroom with a bath, very important. His and hers sinks with plenty of space for products, also important and a constant supply of face cloths. If you’re a skincare fanatic or just someone that likes to be clean then you’ll appreciate that.

A small table to sit at, as well as chaise lounge style sofa, plenty of space to chill. A very well stocked mini bar and drinks station. Constant supply of bottled water. Turn down service complete with chocolates, perfect for those whose husband likes to bring home a stash.

Amenities

We actually didn’t eat in any of the food bits, I’m sure all great but Chicago has too much to offer to eat in the hotel. You can check out my food post here. There is a restaurant, Breakfast lounge, and food in the bar if you wish.

The bar and roof bar did some great drinks and they bring a little dish of snacks which were far too moorish. Lots of decent wines, every kind of spirit you could ask for along with some very top shelf offerings. Husband wanted to try the Harvey Spectre MacAllan until he saw the price.

The spa let me down a little here, very basic, not anywhere like a relaxation lounge. Kids in the pool, which I get but if you’re including it in the spa it isn’t relaxing. Basic facilities and very much separate so you’re not getting to use them with your partner, unless you’re the same sex. The Massage however was up to usual Ritz Carlton standard and they gave us champagne after as it was my birthday so full marks there.

Pool is indoors, a decent size but not a full size and depth pool. A few loungers are round the side. As mentioned above it’s located at the spa. I really wish the pool was out doors, maybe a little roof top pool but maybe I’m asking too much lol. We didn’t step foot in the gym so I really can’t comment but it’s there if you fancy.

Final thoughts…

It’s a great hotel has 90% of what you need. Wished there was an out door pool or more of an out door lounge style area. There is a roof bar but it’s not open all the time (at least not in September) and it’s not that comfy outdoor place to soak up the sunshine and that’s what I feel is missing. The service was great and there are plenty of great facilities but I would say on this occasions not all Ritz Carltons are made equal. I guess it’s down to its city Location but the facilities at Dove Mountain Arizona or Beach resort Naples Florida are far superior.

For more Ritz Carlton check out Dove Mountain here.

See you in the next post.
