30 New Things – Number 12 – See Swan Lake Ballet.
It finally happened. I’ve been banging on about it for years, literally, we finally booked tickets and headed off to see Swan Lake.
It’s a love story of Prince Siegfried and a swan Princess, Oddette. Oddette is under the spell of a magician and remains swan by Day and human by night.
If you’re not into ballet or classical music. Just don’t even go there. You’lol probably hate it. But if you fancy something, love ballet or classical music then what are you waiting for.
The dancing is exquisite especially Oddette. She really made the production for me with her effortless out of this world dancing. I’ve never seen someone pirouette so many times with out getting dizzy. Every move was perfect but far from stiff and forced. She floated along from one move to another taking you along on a magical journey. I left wishing I’d stuck at balette when I was little. My lack of coordination however would not have turned me into a beautiful dancing swan princess. I know such a shame.
Important features for any production have to be the stage and theatre. There was no skimping on scenery or production and the theatre hasn’t falling down a rabbit hole of dark dingy and in need of a make over.
As with everything I like to share the good the bad and the ugly. I’m sad to put it out there but Siegfried did not do it for me. There was a serious lack of something. Don’t get me wrong he had the most muscular chiselled legs and the perkiest bum I’ve ever seen. Obviously important hehe. Yes he could dance and did so beautifully, but my god he just didn’t connect with the audience. I didn’t believe in his love for Oddette and I just couldn’t take to him. I can’t put my finger on the issue but John agreed and I over heard another couple saying the same. So I’m confident it wasn’t just me going mad.
I loved it and would definitely recommend but I don’t think it’s one of those that everyone needs to see, it’s not gonna be for everyone.
If you’ve seen Swan Lake let me know what you thought.
I have failed miserably with this challenge. I’m only just getting half way through and I definitely turned 30 on Sunday. Life has taken over and I quickly realised 30 New Things In 52 weeks may have been a little ambitious. However I am going to continue with the challenge and fingers crossed I’ll reach it by the end of the year.
