Skin Concern – Milia

Milia, those tiny little white bumps under skin that no matter how much you poke them they’re not budging. First of all stop prodding them, squeezing them or anything else equivalent. You’re gonna open a whole can of worms and potentially still have them.

Milia

Tiny cyst like bump made up of keratin trapped under the skin. Don’t hate Keratin you need it. After all it’s what your skin, hair and nails are built up of. It gives them structure.  Milia are often hereditary, sorry guys not the best news.  If you have a lot of then this is often a sign of them being hereditary. If you only get a few, you can get rid by upping your skincare routine. Oh there we go, now we’re getting the blame. Skin flakes and keratin get trapped under the skin. Anyone can get them, guys, girls, children and adults. They are stubborn, not that nice to look at and generally tend to be around the eye area. They can creep down onto your cheeks as well. When I say creep I don’t mean literally.

Treatment

DO NOT under any circumstances try and pick them out yourself. If you get any form of needle to them yourself you risk scaring your face. You can have them removed by a professional. Either at a salon, Aesthetics clinic or head to a Dermatologist. Make sure you’re not just letting some cow boy that thinks they know what they’re doing at them. They will need to use a needle to cut them out of the skin. Don’t know about you but I wouldn’t want just anyone giving it a good.

You can help to get rid of them at home. Use an acid style exfoliator on them daily Glycolic acid works well.  Avoid products that have mineral oils. Avoid using a scrub with bits, you don’t want to scrub the area and damage the skin. Use a clay style mask on the area regularly.

I hope that’s helped solve your Milia problems but if you have any questions be sure to leave them in the comments.
